Happy Thursday! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Last weekend I had a friend come stay with me; she recently returned from the Peace Corps and we had SO much fun catching up! We stayed up way too late, ate pizza and ice cream, and talked practically nonstop for two days haha. She even helped me take some outfit photos, which will be coming to the blog next week! It’s so fun to have girl time. As I get older, it’s becoming harder to make and keep friends. Many have moved to a different city, gotten married, are having babies, etc. It’s exciting and sad at the same time! So I feel like it’s that much more important to stay in touch and make the most of the time we do get with our friends!
Anyway –on a totally unrelated topic!– today I want to share a winter office look with you all. I have worn this outfit several times to work and love it. It takes a common outfit formula (solid skirt and patterned top) and sort of flips it upside down! Best of all, it’s classy and comfortable.
This skirt is one of my favorites. The color is subtle but the pattern adds some interest. If your weather is too cold for a skirt, try pairing it with tights or taller boots. I got this skirt several years ago, but linked ones with a similar color and/or pattern.
If you haven’t jumped on the turtleneck bandwagon yet, now is the time! It feels like a t-shirt but is sophisticated enough to wear to work. I also like the warmth it adds to an outfit. My favorite turtlenecks are from Target (shown here) and J. Crew.
The finishing touch, this necklace, is one of my most-worn pieces of jewelry. The mix of metals allows it to go with anything, and it makes a statement without being too loud. I also like how it works with the gold hardware on my work bag.
What are you thoughts? Will you try switching up an outfit formula? I know we’re all getting a little bit tired of winter and this is a great way to add some interest!
