I think one of the most fun (and challenging!) aspects of this blog is finding locations to take photos. I have never before noticed with quite so much clarity how the light hits certain places or what buildings downtown have white walls. Haha! But it’s so fun too, because it allows me to discover areas that I wouldn’t have otherwise. This cute little pond is hidden in a nearby apartment complex but is set so far off the road you might not even know it was there. And it creates such a relaxing little pocket from the city. The atmosphere is really peaceful. While we were wandering around, one couple was having a picnic and another couple was feeding the ducks. So cute!
It was raining on and off all day so I wore an outfit that would work for our little excursion. I love that it’s comfortable and casual but still polished looking! It can be really easy to give up on trying to look nice when the weather is bad, but I think rain boots can look nice with the right outfit.
I never needed rain boots until I moved to Kentucky for college, but I quickly learned they’re worth the investment! I linked a few in the carousel below. I know it’s not peak rainy season, but most winters I end up wearing my rain boots more than snow boots so it never hurts to be prepared!
On top, I paired a classic black and white striped shirt with my dark green vest. The look is casual and a little bit preppy. I was always told not to wear horizontal stripes because it makes you look shorter, but I love stripes! And I do think that adding the vest or a scarf or some other item to break up the stripes makes it much more flattering. This vest is so comfortable and was an easy choice for the day. It’s quilted but not overly puffy, plus I am obsessed with dark green (if you can’t tell from my instagram 😉 ) so that makes me love this vest even more.
I accessorized with a watch and gold bangle. I love watches that combine silver and gold (I linked some below!) because it will go with any other jewelry. And I picked the bracelet as an addition because I like how it works with the gold accents on my vest.
Of course, we couldn’t take photos of just my outfit when these cute ducks were following us everywhere! I think they were disappointed that we didn’t have food for them! Haha 🙂 But it was such a cool place to see. I’m always happy to find a new spot and get out and explore my neighborhood a little bit!
Thanks for reading, friends! I hope you have a great rest of the week! 🙂
