As of tomorrow, December is here! I am one of those people that like to wait until December to really start celebrating Christmas. I like to enjoy fall as much as I can before I let winter take over. But once December is here, I go ALL OUT! As many holiday decorations as I can fit in my little apartment, Christmas music on all the time, cute Christmas movies every weekend, and all the cliche holiday activities. And this year, with my new blog, I’ll be sharing a few holiday posts with you all too! Everything from gift guides to holiday party outfits, I will have it here! To kick off December, I thought I would share my own Christmas wish list with you all. I hope it helps you all get to know me a little better, and serves as some inspiration for you as you’re shopping for gifts and creating your own list!
Winter Boots: Sperry Saltwater Duck Boots
I grew up in Chicago and Wisconsin, so you would think I would have a pair of decent winter boots. And I did at the time. But my good boots wore out right around the time I moved to Kentucky, and in almost 7 years, I just haven’t bothered replacing them! Because it snows so little in Kentucky, I either wear my rain boots or uggs (even though they’re not exactly weather-proof). But I really need a boot that combines water-resistance and warmth, so the Sperry Saltwater Duck Boots are on my list. I have heard so many friends and roommates rave about them, so I feel like it’s time I join the club! I like that they are useful winter boots, but are still stylish and not so big that they overwhelm my frame. Perfect for light snows!
Desktop Candy Dispenser
I always have candy at my desk and love it when coworkers stop by my office to take some. I currently have lemon drops, peppermints, and peanut m&m’s. Right now my candy stays in a desk drawer, but I would love to have this Sharper Image desktop candy dispenser! This is so fun, it’s easy to fill, and it has a sensor that distributes the perfect portion size. I love it! This is perfect for any candy-lover on your list this year.
Skincare Products: Witch Hazel Toner and Antioxidant Face Mask
I’ve gotten a few questions about my beauty routine lately, and am in the process of writing a post to address them. I typically don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I do take skincare seriously. I use Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel toner every night. It feels great on my skin, tightens pores, and smells amazing. I also love face masks and this Plant Apothecary Antioxidant Face Mask is a favorite. It contains matcha and chamomile to soothe skin. I sometimes have issues with redness so those ingredients are great for me. Both of these would make great gifts for your sister or the friend that likes at-home spa days. They are also both good stocking stuffers!
Sweaters: Twist Front Fleece and Cozy Cardigan
I love all things cozy, especially in winter. I love this Twist Front Fleece Pullover because it is simple and classic and not too trendy (I like clothes that I can wear for a few years). But I love the twist-front detail that updates the sweater and adds a little bit of interest. It has lots of great reviews on the website and comes in 17 colors! I also am coveting this Dreamers by Debut Pocket Cardigan because of the soft material. I own other items from this brand and I LOVE them. I also like the relaxed fit. I could see myself cozying up in this at home in front of my fireplace or dressing it up a little with booties and black jeans to go out to dinner.
Portrait Lens for my camera
At the top of my list is a new lens for my camera. I got my camera back in May and have been working with the kit lens thus far. It’s taken a lot longer than I thought to learn about my camera and lenses and everything, but I feel like I am finally getting the hang of it! While the camera itself is fantastic, and the kit lens has worked for our purposes so far, I would really love to step up my portrait game with this 50mm f/1.8 STM lens. It adds more bokeh effect to photos so that the background is softly blurred and the subject really stands out. My sister’s boyfriend has a similar lens and I got to try it out over Thanksgiving break. It’s amazing!
Hope you all enjoyed reading and got some ideas for Christmas gifts! What is on your wish list this year??
