Do you have any kind of go-to outfit “uniform”? The clothing combination that you just keep reaching for? They’re easy and you know they look good on you. It’s especially nice to have these outfit formulas for work because they save time in the mornings! I have a few such “uniforms”, but sometimes the look can get repetitive. My solution? Keep the basic formula the same, but make just a few tweaks to add a little bit of interest. For this outfit, I worked from a simple pencil skirt + oxford shirt combination, and added interest in the form of texture, color, and statement jewelry.
Update a wardrobe staple by getting it in a different material. This faux leather wrap pencil skirt is a perfect example. The skirt’s silhouette is fairly simple and professional so that the outfit remains appropriate for the office. But interest is added with a new, unexpected texture. In addition to leather, you might try twill, linen, or even denim.
Add a pop of color with bright red shoes! You can also make an outfit more colorful with a silk scarf, a belt, or bag. Red is a classic choice, but any pop of color will add new appeal to a go-to outfit.

This necklace completed the outfit by balancing the color: red on my feet and turquoise at my neck. It’s a bit of a boho touch and allows me to express my personal style while wearing work clothes. (This necklace was passed down from my grandma which makes it more special too!)
I like using these tricks to add interest to my office looks. I stick to basics as far as cut/shape/silhouette, but these little tweaks make them unique.
What is your favorite way to add interest to your outfits? Will you be trying any of these?
