Fall is one of my favorite seasons to shop for. So many options for cozy sweaters, cute boots, and layers galore! I could spend days browsing online for my favorites each fall! Each season, I try to put together a mix of high-end and low-end pieces to complete my wardrobe. And this year, there are 5 pieces that I think are worth investing in. These are timeless, useful, high-quality, and just worth spending more on in my opinion!
I’m so happy booties are still trending this year because they are absolutely one of my favorite shoes! I really can’t see them going out of style anytime soon. They are the easiest way to complete a stylish outfit and are so versatile because the low profile doesn’t have to take over the rest of your look. It just adds a nice touch! My all-time favorite booties are these Steve Madden taupe ankle boots. I’ve worn them season after season. For something with a bit more edge, I love the look of these moto boots. And if you’re looking for something with a lower heel, these cognac ankle boots are in my cart now. I am absolutely in love with the zipper detailing!
2. Denim Jacket
If you have a well-fitting jean jacket, you will wear it with everything, I promise! It is so perfect for fall because it can be worn over dresses and skirts at the beginning of fall or over turtlenecks and sweaters as the weather gets really cool. Don’t compromise the quality on this piece because it can last years and years! Of course, Madewell’s denim jacket is at the top of this list. Two other favorites are Abercombie’s classic jacket (have you all seen some of their new stuff?? Really stepping up their game!) and this structured look from Vince Camuto.
3. Cozy Cardigan
Do I really have to convince you to invest in a cozy cardigan? They are the perfect way to look comfortable yet stylish! Look for high quality materials if you want it to last a while: think cashmere, wool, or a good soft rayon. Make sure to find one to fit your frame so you can wear it for years. I generally have to find slightly shorter ones or order down a size because of my short height, but taller girls will be able to wear a longer one for a more dramatic look! I own this in several colors. So soft and I love that sleeve detailing! Another favorite is this long ombre cashmere cardigan that really makes a statement. And if you want to be able to go from a day at the apple orchard to curled up in front of a fire with no outfit change, this oh-so-cozy cardigan is an absolute must!
4. Plaid Blazer
The plaid blazer has made a comeback this fall. The pattern is rooted in equestrian culture, and the over-sized fit is reminiscent of the 90s. Personally, I love the look. However, it’s hard to say how long this trend will last. In order to stay on-trend but invest a piece that will remain stylish for many years, ditch the boxy fit and instead go for a slightly more fitted look. This preppy plaid effortlessly combines classic with new fashion. I love this one with a velvet tie and a bit more color. And this collarless one is perfect for pairing with turtlenecks or a chunky necklace. A perfectly fitting blazer will always be a piece worth investing in!
5. Burgundy purse
One of the most popular colors for fall, burgundy has some real staying power thanks to its timeless vibe and ability to be paired with multiple colors. I think it’s worth investing in a burgundy handbag or tote this season. I love that it adds dimension to outfits and is just so perfect for fall! This Madewell crossbody is my favorite because it has multiple compartments and can also be carried as a handbag. This small crossbody is a close second for me. I love how dainty it is while still making a statement with the color. And if you really want to splurge, this Tory Burch pebbled leather tote looks amazing!
What pieces are you willing to invest in this fall? Are any of these in your closet or on your shopping list? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
